Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki recently released a new generation of Alto for the domestic market. The company is also developing a new generation of Swift and Swift Sport, which will be launched in the next 1-2 years. A new media report stated that the new generation of Suzuki Swift will be launched in the world in mid-2022.

In addition, the next-generation Swift Sport will also be launched in 2023. The new generation of Suzuki Swift will be based on a modified version of the HEARTECT platform, which also supports the current generation of models. However, the new model is expected to provide better safety during a collision. The current Swift received 0 stars in LATIN NCAP because the platform was found to be unstable.

The new model will adopt an evolutionary style. The overall profile will remain the same; however, it will have a more radical design. The hatchback will use an aggressive front panel with a black grille, slimmer headlights with LED DRL and a new multi-spoke alloy. Similar to current models, the rear door handle of the new generation Swift is expected to be integrated on the C-pillar. Expect the new model to have a strong waistline running through the entire length to incorporate wrap-around taillights.

It is expected that the Indian specification model will have a similar design and function. The company will make some changes to the interior and is expected to be equipped with better quality plastics. The new model is likely to be powered by a new and improved version of a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a hybrid system. It may get a more powerful hybrid system, which should improve overall fuel efficiency. The Indian specification Swift is equipped with 82bhp, 1.2L NA gasoline and 89bhp, 1.2L Dual-Jet gasoline engines, equipped with SHVS mild hybrid system.

The next-generation Swift Sport will be equipped with a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that will benefit from 48V mild hybrid technology. The engine can be adjusted to provide up to 160PS of power from the current 140PS of the Japanese specification model. Adding a 48V motor may improve low-speed torque and fuel efficiency.
