Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 1) launched 5G services in the country, saying it was a "historic day for 21st century India" and added that the technology will revolutionise the country's telecom sector. Launching the service at the four-day India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 at Pragati Maidan in the national capital, PM Modi spoke about the benefits of 5G in India and how the service will help the country's technological revolution.

Bharti Airtel's 5G service will be available in select cities from Saturday (October 1), the company's chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said at the sixth edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC 2022). With this, Bharti Airtel has become the first company to launch 5G services in the country.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that Reliance Jio will launch 5G services across the country by December 2023. Speaking at the IMC 2022 event, Ambani said Jio will launch affordable 5G services and cover every nook and corner of the country by December 2023. Ambani was speaking at the IMC 2022 event.

Vodafone-Idea is set to join the 5G bandwagon soon. Speaking at the inauguration of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022, Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman, Aditya Birla Group (a promoter company of telco Vodafone Idea along with UK’s Vodafone Group) said that Vodafone Idea will soon begin its 5G rollout journey.

The government has directed YouTube to block 45 YouTube videos from 10 YouTube channels. The ministry of information & broadcasting issued orders to block the concerned videos late last week (September 23) under the provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021.

WhatsApp has brought a new feature allowing users to create direct links to calls, both voice and video. This has been a common feature on video conferencing apps like Zoom, Google Chat, and Meet, but now it has come to WhatsApp. The feature dubbed "Call Links'' lets people create links to video and voice calls and share it with their contacts on WhatsApp.
