Skoda has unveiled its new logo – the eighth iteration in the company’s history – alongside its new Modern Solid design language with the concept Vision S SUV. The next generation of Skoda vehicles will not use the flying arrow logo on the bonnet, the firm has confirmed, with just a new wordmark used instead.

The flying arrow logo, which will continue to be used for communication and digital purposes, swaps the 3D design for a 2D effect. This is similar to what parent brand Volkswagen did in 2019. Like the Volkswagen logo, it's simpler and cleaner than the previous design so that it looks better digitally.

The new logo has two versions – one is word only, and the another one is with the historic emblem and the Skoda lettering below it in a new stylised font. Skoda says this is an updated take on its classic emblem and a wordmark, and the brand will still use the emblem on other parts of the car such as the wheels, as well as on the inside.

Meanwhile, the new logo consisting of the name 'Skoda' written in a new stylised font will be used on the bonnet of all its future cars. The wordmark also does away with the caron, or the accent above the S, and it is now modified to introduce a break in the S.

Skoda says the changes are the biggest for the company in 30 years. Describing the new logo, sales and marketing boss Martin Jahn said: “We see this as the perfect opportunity to make our brand fit for the decade of transformation.”

The new emblem features two different shades of green, named Emerald and Electric, which Skoda says represent ecology, sustainability and electromobility.

The new wordmark will be rolled out across the range from 2024, with next-gen Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq models, both to be announced next year, expected to be the first to wear it, followed by a refreshed Octavia.

It will also be seen on the confirmed electric seven-seat SUV, hatchback and compact crossover, which are all set to arrive before 2026. These will be the first production cars to use Skoda’s new design language, too.

Skoda currently sells the Kushaq, Slavia, Superb, Octavia and Kodiaq in India. The brand will introduce the Enyaq EV here sometime next year. Skoda has also has plans for a compact SUV under its India 2.5 project. You can read more about it here.
