After multiple teasers, BMW has revealed the second generation M2. The new M2 will be built alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at the BMW Group’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. The new M2 is almost like a mini M4 since it borrows a lot of bits from its elder sibling. Considering the fact that the M2 is one of the best selling M car yet, we expect it to make it to our shores next year.

The new M2 has grown quite a bit but it is still not as the M4. To put things into numbers, it measures 214 mm less in length than the BMW M4 Coupe and has a 110 mm shorter wheelbase. The front gets a large, framless kidney grille with horizontal bars. The rear comes qith quad exhaust pipes, an aggressive diffusor and a spoiler lip on the boot lid. BMW is offering the M2 with five colour schemes: Alpine White, Sapphire metallic, Brooklyn Grey metallic, Toronto Red metallic, and new Zandvoort Blue which is exclusive only to the 2022 M2.

The new BMW M2 borrowes the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six mill from the M4 and produces 453 Hp and 550 Nm of torque. BMW offers the six-speed manual as standard and its eight-speed M Steptronic transmission as an option. The manual version of the car will take 4.1 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h while and the automatic version can go from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The M2 is electronically limited to 250 km/h and with the optional M driver’s package, it can do 284 km/h.

The braking is taken care of by six-piston, fixed-calliper brakes at the front and single-piston, floating-calliper brakes at the rear. The front and rear tracks are now wider. It gets a staggered wheel setup comprising of 19-inches in the front and 21-inches at the rear. In terms of suspension, it gets Adaptive M Suspension and Active M Differential with various modes. Like other M cars, the new M2 gets an almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

The M2’s interior gets newly designed M Sport seats with an illuminated M headrest logo. BMW is offering M Carbon bucket seats as an option for as a part of the Carbon Package. The interior is in line with the newer BMWs and it features a large curved display with two screens measuring 12.3-inch for the instrument cluster and 14.9 inch for the infotainment system. Both the screens get M-specific controls, displays, and configurations. The M Setup menu allows drivers to tailor various vehicle systems, such as the chassis, steering, braking, and M Traction Control.
