Nissan Patrol, sold as Armada in the United States, has been on the global market for 70 years. The first model was rolled off the assembly line in Japan in 1951. It was originally designed based on the Willis Jeep.

However, Patrol today is very different from its humble origins, and this new 70th anniversary model is more gorgeous than ever. Patrol is the most popular full-size SUV in the Middle East and is the ideal place to launch and sell limited edition models of Nissan's flagship SUV.

The 2022 Nissan Patrol 70th Anniversary model is distinguished by its large chrome-plated V-Motion grille, increased chrome-plated exterior details and new 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels. The external upgrade is very subtle, which is why Nissan believes it is necessary to add the 70th anniversary logo to the side fender vents of the SUV.

Fortunately, Nissan Patrol 70th Anniversary's interior changes are more obvious. The interior now uses Burgundy quilted leather upholstery, and all new products of the 2022 Middle East Patrol are a redesigned center console. The main highlight is a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto connections, and a new 10.1-inch rear dual entertainment screen. Then play the sound through the 13-speaker Bose sound system.

There are two engines to choose from for the 70th anniversary of the Nissan Patrol. The basic engine choice is a 4.0-liter V-6, which produces 275 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. The larger 5.6-liter V-8 engine also powers the Armada, which is rated to produce the same 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission to drive all four wheels.

The Nissan Intelligent Mobility package of advanced driver assistance technology is also the standard configuration of Patrol 70th Anniversary, which includes the following functions:

This is the basis for functions such as digital rearview mirrors and 360-degree surround view camera systems.

Want one? Well, too bad, because this will be limited to the Middle East. It starts at AED 199,900 (approximately US$54,424). Based on these features and enhancements, do you want Nissan to sell this limited edition Patrol in the US, or is the Armada a better SUV? After all, if you are after affluence, then the luxury version of Armada will be sold in the United States in the form of Infiniti QX80.
