Tesla has released a new video showing that a new Giga Press casting machine is producing huge one-piece rear body castings for Model Y.

In recent years, Tesla has been focusing on casting technology to produce larger auto parts with larger parts.

We have previously reported that the Model Y currently produced by Tesla has a huge rear underbody that was once composed of 70 parts.

This is thanks to Tesla's first Giga Press, which was installed at the Fremont factory and put into use last year. This machine, nicknamed Giga Press, is the first of its kind and is produced by the Idra Group in Italy. Its clamping force is 55,000 to 61,000 kilonewtons (5,600 to 6,200 tf).

Tesla launched another large machine at the Fremont factory in September.

According to reports, Tesla has since ordered many of these machines to be deployed in the new factory.

Recently, we reported that Tesla received the "Giga Press" at the Gigafactory in Texas.

They are described as the largest die casting machines in the world, and Tesla is trying to deploy as many of them as possible.

Tesla also has some Giga Press casting machines operating in the Shanghai Super Factory to produce Model Y, which was recently launched at the factory.

The automaker has now released a new video of the operation of these machines:

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that changing from 70 parts to one huge part greatly simplified Tesla's body production line-eliminating the need for about 300 robots.

It also improves quality by making the body more consistent without having to arrange all the variables in many different parts.

The automaker must develop a new alloy to centralize production of such large parts.

Tesla's next step will use the same process to produce the front bottom of the chassis and connect it to the back using a new structural battery pack.

This new body is expected to be produced for the first time for the Model Y at the Berlin Super Factory later this year.
