A man’s disgusting and unprovoked act has been caught on camera with police now investigating the incident.

A man has been caught on camera brazenly keying a bright pink Tesla in Brisbane’s north east.

The shameless and unprovoked vandalism occurred in Bowen Hills on Sunday afternoon and was recorded by a camera located near the car’s side-view mirror.

The man was walking down a street with a woman when he noticed the Tesla. He seemingly turn his head to see if anyone was watching before making a beeline towards the vehicle, which retail at about $72,000.

He pulled a set of keys out of his pocket and used one of them to damage the car’s pink exterior as he walked by.

Footage supplied to 9News showed the owner inspecting their now-destroyed vehicle in the aftermath of the incident.

Social media users were left shocked and appalled by the man’s action.

“The big thing about this kind of destruction is that they get nothing from it … nothing at all except wallowing around in someone else‘s misery,” one person said.

“Why? I just can’t understand what anybody would get out of doing that,” another asked.

“Gosh there are some really rotten people. I can‘t understand why they would do that,” someone else commented.

“Wow low act but even more stupid doing it to a Tesla. It’s common knowledge that those things have cameras pointing every which way,” another pointed out.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said they are investigating the incident.

“Police are investigating a report of wilful damage from Gregory Terrace in Bowen Hills on Sunday afternoon,” they said.

“Anyone with information is being urged to come forward.”
