Automakers usually close the doors of their design studios to keep secrets about future models. However, sometimes we have the opportunity to see car designers at work. This is exactly what happened through a few videos — unfortunately with Russian dubbing — that gave us a good understanding of the Lada venue.
The design studio is located in the center of Moscow and has 14 employees-7 designers and 7 modelers. Its location is very suitable for sourcing local talents from design schools such as Moscow Polytechnic University. Design students of these schools can get internship and job opportunities in Lada.

In the video uploaded to YouTube from the НА ЗАВОДЕ channel, we can see the relatively young design team drawing sketches and showing us several interesting projects. These include cool off-road vehicles and stylish coupes designed for 2030. Keep out of sight.
At the end of the video, the demonstrator claimed that they could not access the third floor because there was a "secret" model that might hint at the new generation of Lada Niva currently under development. However, there is another video showing the actual prototype of the SUV hidden under the white sheets.

The character in the video is Lada design director Jean-Philippe Salar. He joined the company in January 2021. He was previously responsible for the design of Renault Arkana and almost all Dacia models currently on sale. As you might expect, he talked about the new Lada Niva, which is a very important project for the brand. The new model was confirmed with preview sketches earlier this year. It is expected to be unveiled in 2024, based on Renault Group's CMF-B platform.

Please note that the original Niva has been around since 1977, and despite minor updates to the 2020 facelift, it can still be recognized immediately. Over the years, it has created a reputation as a very capable off-road vehicle with its Spartan character and iconic shape. AvtoVAZ also produces the Niva Travel, a completely different model based on the SUV sold as the Chevrolet Niva before Lada and General Motors acquired its joint venture at a price of 50-50. However, despite being fully updated in 2021, it is still based on chassis technology from the 90s.
In addition to Niva's Legend, Bronto and Travel variants, Lada also offers a series of conventional models, including Granta, Vesta, Xray and Largeus. The Russian company is part of the Renault Group, which allows it to access parts bins also used by Dacia, another budget-oriented automaker.
