-Will be based on the recently launched BR-V

-Will be exhibited at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show

Honda shared the first preview image of its SUV to be exhibited at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. Based on the recently released Honda BR-V, the new product will be a five-seater SUV and will debut in Indonesia on November 11, 2021.

Although Honda is tight-lipped about the upcoming SUV, the teaser image reveals some details about the exterior styling. The front panel is likely to have a slanted engraved hood, which may flow to the front grille with chrome elements. On both sides of it will be stylish LED headlights with integrated horizontal DRL. On the side, the sloping roof line and the twisted window line towards the C-pillar provide the appearance of a floating roof. In terms of size, the length of a medium-sized SUV is mostly more than 4 meters.

The rear is likely to get a roof-mounted spoiler and LED taillights, connected by a slender light bar. There are few details on the interior at present, but we hope Honda will equip the SUV with a new instrument panel design and modern features derived from BR-V.

As for the power system, the SUV can share the same 1.5-liter DOHC gasoline engine, producing 118bhp and 145Nm in the BR-V. Transmission options may include manual and CVT units.

A few months ago, Honda confirmed that the automaker is developing a new SUV specifically for the Indian market. However, it is not clear whether the upcoming global model will be brought to the coast of India. If launched in India, Honda's new mid-size SUV may become a strong competitor to Hyundai Creta, Kia Self-Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
